ADULT CLASSES: WINTER SESSION 2010

Here at Parkview Christian Church, we recognize that everyone is on a unique spiritual journey, and that for some, learning takes place best in a classroom setting.  To help you on that journey, we are offering a variety of classes during the months of January through March.  These classes are designed to build a strong Christian foundation and inspire spiritual growth, taking into account where you are currently at spiritually.

Classes are offered in the following general categories: Heart (Spiritual Practices); Mind (Bible/Theology); Soul (Life Lessons); and Strength (Faith/Action).

HEART (Spiritual Practices)

 
RENOVATION OF THE HEART Retreat

WHEN:  Friday, Feb. 19th (7 to 8:30 PM) and Saturday, Feb. 20th (9 AM to 2 PM)
WHERE:  Location is TBA
LEADER:  Pastor Haydn Shaw and Pastor Casey Tygrett

The most frequent comments that we hear from people who’ve attended this two-day retreat are “Life-changing!” and “I finally get it!” Following this retreat experience, you will have a greater understanding of how to live like Jesus every day! Space is limited so register early.

The cost is $15.00 and is payable at the door.

HOW TO STAY IN STEP WITH GOD
(Formerly called “An Ordinary Day with Jesus” and “Learning to Live in God”)

WHEN:  Wednesdays, March 24th and 31st from 7:00 to 8:30 PM
WHERE:  Lockport Campus Worship Center

Our best relationships in life are those that become closer and deeper over time. 

This is also true of our relationship with God.  During this two-part class, you will learn about four different stages of spiritual life, problem areas that can stifle growth, and the key catalysts that can help you move forward in a healthy, growing relationship

with God.

 MIND (Bible and Theology)

HOW TO READ GOD’S STORY (AND NOT GO CRAZY)

WHEN:  Saturdays, March 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM
WHERE:  Orland Campus: Lower Level Conference Room

Reading the Bible need not be a haphazard journey through strange and bewildering territory.  This introductory class is designed to take you by the hand and walk you through how to study Scripture. 

The cost is $10 for materials and is payable at the door.

SOUL (Life Lessons)

This class is offered to help you become familiar with the mission and core values of Parkview Christian Church.  Some of the topics covered include theology, Christianity, church history, membership, communion, baptism, and church organization. Choose the one that best fits your schedule.

 STRENGTH (Faith and Action)

STARTING POINT: Finding Your Place in the Story

WHEN:  Thursdays, January 14th thru March 18th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM
WHERE:  Orland Campus: Lower Level Conference Room
LEADER:  Pastor Casey Tygrett

Hundreds of people have asked for a class that would provide an overview of the entire Bible. We promised we would provide one, and Starting Point, led by Spiritual Formation Pastor Casey Tygrett, is that class!

Whether you know next to nothing about the Bible or have been reading it for years, you will gain new insight into how the story of the Bible connects all 66 books, and the many ways that you fit into the story.

A powerful combination of information and life application, this is one of our core classes that we encourage everyone to attend.

The cost is $20 for materials and is payable at the first class.
